Climbing the social ladder

 In 2013, our client expanded their portfolio by purchasing two extended stay hotel chains; Crestwood Suites and Sun Suites. While this client had many years of experience in the hospitality industry, this was their first time working with hotels in the extended stay vertical.


Plan & Action 

In an effort to gain valuable insights and information that would help us plan a customized social media strategy, we determined a Facebook sweepstakes, accompanied with a survey, would be the best. When Zoom Creates began the social media portion of this campaign, we had limited information about the target audience. This information is crucial in running a successful campaign, and without it, the campaign may flop.

WHAT WERE THE RESULTS? 

Over a 10 month period we saw the following changes on social media platforms:

  • Growth in likes and following from 500 users (combined pages).
  • Increase in positive experiences from guests who experienced good customer service-online or at the hotel.
  • Increased hotels star rating by 20% on Facebook and other review platforms.  

Our social media efforts also played a part in the overall growth of the hotel chains website and revenue:

  • Visitors to website tripled year over year.
  • Reservations created from website went up 285% over previous year.
  • Revenue from website reservations up 222% over previous year.

Ongoing Social Media Marketing 

After the Facebook contest, we used the valuable insights to help build our next campaign. Zoom Creates designed branded collateral that would increase traffic to pages that were not being seen by visitors. We focused on the special rates pages and created branded content that was similar to the website, which cohesively tied the social media platforms to the site, in order to continue increasing brand awareness.
